This is such a dreary time of year for fashion…I’m tired of thinking about winter clothes but there are few spring fashions in the stores for inspiration. When I need a little spring fashion fix, I go to Style.com and look through the runway shows and dream of sunnier days. I found some great, wearable casual [...] Yes! But a few rules apply; keep the plaid shirt basic (no ruffles, etc.) and keep the other pieces conservative (the shirt is the focal point). Wear the shirt un-tucked so it hangs below the hem of the jacket and wear the jacket open. Plaid shirt at ShopBop.com, navy blazer from J. Crew, Gap skinny mid-rise [...] At this time of the year, my clothing budget goes to a few pieces that must be bought for full price or else they’ll be missed. Number one on my list is a great suit, it becomes the backbone of my wardrobe. Luckily, nice looking suits can be had at any price point, but this [...] I got a kick out of this article on Wall Street Journal/Fashion.com…it talks about how hot pink and magenta are the “new” trendy colors for fall. At our age, we know that what goes around comes around and this is a great example. All went especially well and I’m on the fast track to recovery. Even when older women are in the public eye, most are trying to look years younger than they are which, in my opinion, looks ridiculous. I have a love/hate relationship with shoes and boots. I won’t buy shoes or boots unless I love them and they have to pass rigorous scrutiny to be loved. They must be: 1. Classic enough to look stylish for a few years but current enough not to be boring
As this ultra femmme/baby doll phase dies down, we still have a few trends to deal with. As I’ve said before, I like to look current while maintaining “my” look. Can the floral prints that have seeped into fall fashion fit my image? Can ruffles work for women over 35? Can lace look sophisticated? Well, only [...] The untucked shirt thing has been hard for me to wear. I guess I liked the 80′s when a shirt tucked into a skirt or pants with a great belt would really make a statement. But, as I’ve said before, as you get older I think its important to keep up with the major trends. [...] As I’m perusing the media (magazines, web, movies and t.v.) looking for fall fashions, I’m uninspired. Usually fall has me drooling over beautiful clothes done up in sumptuous fabrics.
