Did you happen to catch The Oprah Show today? Rita Wilson was on and she was making-over women who’d let “the frump” overtake their look. It was really amazing how much better the women looked and felt after their makeovers! And Rita Wilson is a breath of fresh air talking about the challenges of looking good as you age.
All in all there was a lot of good advice on hair, make-up and clothes though it was hard for me to relate to how glamed-up the women looked after their makeovers. I find that our society has become so casual that I feel like I look like I’m trying too hard when I make a big effort to look pulled together. I’m always trying to “dress down” my look by wearing jeans with anything remotely dressy. On the show they said to dress nice for yourself and I wish I could do that more often.
It’s pretty easy to put together a look when you wear beautiful sportswear or dresses, but the real test is creating every day casual looks that are the basis of most of our wardrobes. Rita Wilson stressed feeling comfortable in your clothes and for me that’s casual chic with a little edginess and I’m always searching for pieces that fill that definition.
