Ruffles, Lace and Florals for Fall?

photo from Stylelist.comAs this ultra femmme/baby doll phase dies down, we still have a few trends to deal with. As I’ve said before, I like to look current while maintaining “my” look. Can the floral prints that have seeped into fall fashion fit my image? Can ruffles work for women over 35? Can lace look sophisticated? Well, only if they are toned down a few notches.

I can wear these trends in neutral colors; I can wear them in subdued fall colors such as aubergine, wine and tobacco; I can wear them if they have a modern art/abstract look. That’s all. Forget the over-sized floral embellishments, the tiny granny flowers and the frilly, frosted look–those will be passe by November!
